Fight of the Week Friday - Scarves, Bags, and a Little Denial
🩰 Fight of the Week Friday 🩰
Scarves, Bags, and a Little Denial
This week's showdown? Scarves, bags, and a little of denial. Buckle up, because the drama is about to unfold.
For this week Fight Friday, we have three fights for the price of one. Scarves, bags, and a little denial. Think of it as a special edition — a countdown of chaos from the ballet studio floor.
🥉 Third Place: The Push That Wasn’t Petit vs. Sauté, age 7.
The drama began with
the classic exchange:
"She pushed
me!"
"No, I
didn't!"
Three students
insisted they had seen Sauté push Petit. Two claimed absolutely nothing had
happened. Jeté was spinning in circles the entire time, so she wasn't much
help.
Petit was in tears
despite not having a scratch on her, while Sauté adopted the traditional
arms-crossed, tight-lipped position of someone determined to say as little as
possible. Getting the full story out of them required detective work worthy of
a spy movie.
Eventually, the truth
emerged: Sauté had simply lost her balance and toppled into Petit. Gravity was
the culprit, not malice.
A hug and apology
later, they were laughing and dancing together again.
Teacher's Takeaway: Sometimes the fight isn't really a fight at
all. It's just gravity doing its thing. Honestly, the number of studio disputes
caused by basic physics would surprise you.
🥈 Second Place: The Scarf Standoff Tendu
vs. Brisé, age 6.
If balance wasn't
dramatic enough, enter the scarves.
Two dancers. One pink
scarf.
Never mind that its
identical twin was lying three feet away. Both dancers wanted this
scarf. Not the other one. This one.
A tug-of-war broke out
that was somehow louder than the music playing in class.
When I pointed out the
spare scarf, I was met with a perfectly synchronized response:
So much for trying to
be helpful.
After a solid minute
of stalemate, I confiscated every scarf in sight. Imagination only, children.
By the end of class,
identical fairy wands saved the day and peace was restored.
Teacher's Takeaway: It's never really about the prop. It's about
the principle.
🥇 First Place: The Bag Prank Tournant vs.
Allegro, age 9.
And now for our
winner.
Allegro, a well-known
studio prankster, dragged Tournant's bag across the hall as a joke.
Not particularly kind,
but manageable.
Tournant's response,
however, elevated the situation to legend status.
While everyone was
outside eating, she single-handedly moved every single bag in the hall. Ten
heavy school bags. Ballet bags. Water bottles. The entire collection.
To the opposite side
of the hall.
Her determination was
both impressive and slightly terrifying.
The chaos when the
class returned could probably have powered Monstropolis for a week.
Restoring order
required older students, negotiations, and a 20-minute lecture.
Did anyone learn a
valuable lesson?
The Bag Prank has
since become something of a recurring tradition.
Teacher's Takeaway: Never underestimate a little girl's capacity for pettiness.
